What can you use instead of Buy Me a Coffee to sell digital products?

Six platforms, and which one fits depends on what you want to change. Ko-fi and Payhip let you pay a monthly fee to cut the 5% Buy Me a Coffee takes on every payment. Gumroad and Payhip handle sales tax for you. Systeme.io and Stakk add an order bump and a one-click upsell. Whop takes the least from a sale, at 2.7% + $0.30. Buy Me a Coffee has one plan, and nothing lowers its 5%. Checked 30 September 2026.

Buy Me a Coffee does one thing well: it makes paying you feel as easy as buying a coffee. This page is for when products, not support, have become most of what comes through the page, and the shape of the platform starts to get in the way.

Why look for a Buy Me a Coffee alternative for digital products?

Because the fee is fixed and the checkout is basic. Buy Me a Coffee's fee article sets a 5% platform fee on every payment, whether it is support, a membership or a shop sale. Around it sit Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30 card fee, a 0.5% payout processing fee, 1% more on payments from outside the US and 0.5% more on subscriptions.

There is no paid plan, so there is no way to buy the 5% down as you grow. And the shop has no order bump and no upsell.

None of that is hidden, and for a tip jar it is a fair deal. The full list of Buy Me a Coffee's fees adds them up line by line.

Which alternatives cost less than Buy Me a Coffee per sale?

Whop and Systeme.io clearly, and Ko-fi and Payhip by a few cents. A one-time $20 payment by US card costs about $1.98 on Buy Me a Coffee: $1.00 of platform fee, $0.88 of card processing and about $0.10 of payout processing.

$1.98
What a one-time $20 payment by US card costs on Buy Me a Coffee. Whop takes $0.84, Systeme.io's free plan $0.88 in card processing, and Ko-fi or Payhip's free plan $1.88. Stakk takes $2.50 and Gumroad $3.38.

Our own arithmetic on each platform's published rates and Stripe's standard US card rate, with the card fee absorbed rather than passed to the buyer.

Whop charges 2.7% + $0.30 on a domestic card with processing included and no monthly costs. Systeme.io takes no transaction fee on its free plan, so you pay only your own Stripe or PayPal fee. Ko-fi and Payhip's free plan both take 5% plus processing, without a separate payout fee.

Stakk takes $2.50 of the same sale, card processing included, so Buy Me a Coffee is cheaper than Stakk on a plain $20 sale. Gumroad costs more than either, at 10% + $0.50 with processing on top.

Which alternatives let you lower the fee as you grow?

Ko-fi and Payhip. Both start at the same 5% as Buy Me a Coffee and let you pay a monthly fee to cut it, which Buy Me a Coffee does not offer.

Ko-fi's pricing page puts Gold at $12 a month for 0% on every payment type. That pays for itself above $240 a month of payments that would otherwise carry the 5%.

Payhip's pricing page has two paid plans with every feature on every plan: Plus at $29 a month for 2%, and Pro at $99 a month for 0%. Against the free plan, Plus pays off above about $967 a month in sales and Pro above about $1,980.

Below those lines, the free 5% is the cheaper choice on both. Payhip's paid plans are covered in more detail in our breakdown of Payhip's fees.

Which alternatives keep memberships alongside your products?

Ko-fi, Payhip and Gumroad. If memberships are a real part of your income on Buy Me a Coffee, start with these three.

Ko-fi runs memberships at the same 5% as its shop on Standard, or 0% on Gold. Payhip's homepage lists memberships alongside digital downloads, online courses and coaching. Gumroad's pricing page lists memberships next to digital products, e-books and courses.

Stakk does not belong on this list. It has no memberships and no subscriptions, only one-off products, so moving a membership to Stakk is not possible.

Which alternatives add an order bump or upsell?

Systeme.io and Stakk give you both without a monthly plan. Buy Me a Coffee has neither, which is covered in whether Buy Me a Coffee has order bumps.

Systeme.io's free plan includes one order bump and one one-click upsell, and its $17 Startup plan raises that to ten of each. Its free plan also has a 2,000 contact cap, and its own help center says that if you stay over it, "Opt-ins and payments stop working" after a few days of warnings.

Stakk puts an order bump and a one-tap post-purchase upsell on every account. Payhip shows a cross-sell in the cart on every plan, and Gumroad shows an add-on after the buyer presses Pay. Ko-fi has neither on any setup.

Which alternatives handle sales tax for you?

Gumroad and Payhip. Buy Me a Coffee says it does not handle the collection and remittance of sales tax or VAT on behalf of creators, and Stakk does not either.

Gumroad has been the merchant of record since 1 January 2025, which makes it the legal seller, and it handles sales tax where it has an obligation as the seller. Payhip handles EU and UK VAT, and since 1 July 2026 US sales tax as a marketplace facilitator, along with Canadian GST/HST and PST.

Whether that changes anything for you depends on where you and your buyers are. That is a question for an accountant in your own country.

When would I send you somewhere else?

If your page runs on support and memberships, stay on Buy Me a Coffee, or look at Ko-fi if you want a way to cut the fee. Stakk is the wrong choice for that page. It has no tips, no memberships, no subscriptions, no supporter-only posts and no page builder, and it sells in US dollars only, with nothing above $999.

If the lowest cost per sale is the whole decision, Whop and Systeme.io beat Buy Me a Coffee and Stakk on every sale. You also do not have to choose. Keep Buy Me a Coffee for support and point your product links at a separate checkout. There is no importer on Stakk, so you would add products one at a time anyway, and you can start with one.

Want a checkout built for products?

Stakk is for the point where products are the main thing you sell. It costs nothing a month and takes from 10% + $0.50 a sale, card processing included. The buyer pays into your own Stripe account.

That is more than Buy Me a Coffee's 5%, and what the difference buys is the checkout. The order bump rides the same charge as the product, so it carries one fee rather than two. The upsell after payment is one tap against the card already on file, charged as its own sale at the same rate. Both ship on every account, and the layout came out of funnels that ran for agency clients before Stakk existed.
