Does Ko-fi have order bumps?

Nathan Field Nathan Field·Founder, Stakk · 24 September 2026 · 6 min read

No. Ko-fi has no order bump on its checkout and no post-purchase upsell after it, and neither one appears anywhere in its help centre or on any paid tier. There is no funnel builder, no landing page builder and no email sequence tool either. That is not an oversight, it is what Ko-fi is: a tipping and membership page with a shop attached, rather than a checkout you build a funnel on. Checked 13 September 2026.

If you came here hoping the feature was hiding on Gold, it is not. Gold changes what Ko-fi charges you, not what the checkout can do. The rest of this page is about what Ko-fi builds instead, the nearest thing to a workaround, and the fairly large group of people who should stay exactly where they are.

What is an order bump, and what does Ko-fi have instead?

An order bump is an optional add-on offered on the checkout page, before the buyer pays, charged in the same transaction. A post-purchase upsell is a second offer made after that payment clears, taken without the buyer typing their card in again. Ko-fi has neither.

What it has instead is a page with several ways to pay you on it. A one-time tip. A monthly membership with tiers. A shop for digital downloads and physical items. Commissions, with slot scheduling so you are not taking orders you cannot fill. Supporter-only posts, Discord role assignment, stream alerts for Twitch and YouTube.

That is a genuinely good set of tools for the job it is doing, which is turning an audience that likes you into an audience that pays you a little, regularly. It is a different job from moving a buyer from a $19 product to a $67 order in ninety seconds, and the missing bump is downstream of that difference rather than a gap someone forgot to fill.

Is there a workaround for an order bump on Ko-fi?

There is one and it is worth knowing, though it is a substitute rather than a replacement. Sell the bundle as its own shop item.

Instead of offering the $19 template and then trying to add the $29 guide at checkout, you list three items: the template at $19, the guide at $29, and the pair at $39. The buyer makes the choice on the product page rather than on the checkout, which is earlier and weaker, but it is the same economics and it costs you nothing to set up.

The two things you give up are real. First, timing. A bump works because it arrives after the decision, and a bundle on a product page arrives during it. Second, the second charge. A post-purchase upsell only asks for money from someone who has already paid you once, which is a much easier audience than a browser, and there is no way to recreate that on a platform with no card on file.

A membership tier is the other angle. If the add-on you wanted to sell is ongoing rather than one-off, a tier does the job better than a bump would have.

What does Ko-fi charge in 2026?

The fee model changed, and a lot of what is written about Ko-fi online is now describing the old one. Three arrangements, from Ko-fi's own pricing page and its Gold page.

Plan Monthly Ko-fi's service fee Notes
Free$00% on one-time tips, 5% on memberships, shop and commissionsThe 0% applies only while you are not opted in to Standard
Standard$05% on all payment typesThe default for new creators; unlocks supporter-only content, scheduled posts, a shorter page name
Gold$120% on all payment typesStill open to new creators, though the page now opens by telling you that you no longer need it
Stakk, for comparison$010% + $0.50 a sale, card processing includedNo tiers, one rate, order bump and upsell on every account

Card processing sits outside Ko-fi's number, as it does on most of this list. Ko-fi's own wording is that there are no buyer fees, no payout fees and no marketing fees, which is a cleaner promise than several platforms with lower headline rates manage.

$240
Monthly shop and membership volume at which Gold at $12 costs the same as Standard's 5%. Below it Standard is cheaper; above it the $12 is the cheaper of the two.

Our own arithmetic on Ko-fi's published rates. $12 divided by 5% is $240, which is the only real question between those two plans.

Who holds your money on Ko-fi?

You do, and Ko-fi is unusually direct about saying so. Its pricing page states that you get paid directly, that Ko-fi never holds your money, and that Ko-fi does not process payments at all. Supporters pay into your own PayPal or Stripe account.

That puts Ko-fi in the same column as Stakk on this one question, and it is the strongest thing about the platform that nobody talks about. There is no platform balance, so there is no release schedule to wait out, no payout minimum to clear and nothing that can be paused while somebody reviews your account. The split between platforms that hold your sales and platforms that pay you direct matters more than a point or two of take rate, and it almost never appears in a comparison.

The flip side is the one every direct-payout platform shares: a chargeback lands in your own dashboard and the evidence is yours to gather.

Which platforms do have both halves?

Nine of the 42 I checked, and most of them charge for the privilege. Podia and Stan Store both put the pair at $99 a month. Kajabi does not gate the feature but starts at $179. Checkout Page gives you bumps free and charges $99 for the one-click upsell.

Two escape that pattern. Systeme.io ships bumps and one-click upsells on a permanently free plan and charges no transaction fee on any tier, with the free plan capped at one of each. Whop has no monthly cost at all and takes 2.7% + $0.30. Stakk is a third, at a higher rate.

If you only want the checkout half, it is cheaper again. Gumroad and Payhip both ship a checkout add-on on a free plan, and the Gumroad version is the closest thing to a drop-in replacement for a Ko-fi shop that has outgrown itself.

When is Ko-fi the right choice and Stakk the wrong choice?

When the money comes from people supporting you rather than people buying something. Ko-fi's tips, memberships and commissions are its actual product, and Stakk has none of them: no tips, no subscriptions or recurring billing, no communities, no commission slots, US dollars only. If your page is mostly a tip jar with a few files attached, moving to a funnel platform is solving a problem you do not have, and you should stay on Ko-fi.

Ko-fi is also cheaper than we are on shop sales, at 5% against our 10% + $0.50, and Gold at $12 a month is cheaper still once you are past $240. The comparison with Buy Me a Coffee is the more useful one if you are choosing between the two tip jars rather than leaving the category.

Where we differ is what the checkout can do. On Stakk the bump rides the same charge as the product, so it carries one fee rather than two, and the upsell afterwards is one tap against the card already on file. Both are on every account with nothing behind a tier. That layout came out of funnels that ran for agency clients before Stakk existed, which is why it is the shape it is rather than an add-on bolted to a tip page.

Want a checkout with a bump on it?

Stakk ships the order bump and the post-purchase upsell on every account, with no monthly fee and no tier to upgrade to. It is 10% + $0.50 a sale with card processing included, and like Ko-fi the money lands in a Stripe account that belongs to you rather than in a platform balance. The upsell is a second charge and takes the fee again, which is the honest version of that sentence.
