What are the alternatives to Sellfy?

Nathan Field Nathan Field·Founder, Stakk · 21 October 2026 · 7 min read

The main alternatives to Sellfy are Payhip, Gumroad, Systeme.io, Whop, Shopify and Stakk. All of them but Shopify cost $0 a month to start, while Sellfy's cheapest plan is $29 a month and its free trial does not let you sell. Each one gives something up in return: Payhip takes 5% a sale on its free plan, Gumroad takes 10% + $0.50 plus card fees, Systeme.io's free plan stops at 2,000 contacts, and Whop costs more on cards from other countries. Checked 18 October 2026.

Sellfy is a good store builder. People look elsewhere for a few plain reasons, and each alternative fixes some of them and not others. This post sorts them by what they cost and what they lack.

Why do people look for a Sellfy alternative?

Most people leave Sellfy over the cost of starting. Sellfy has no free plan. Sellfy's pricing page lists Starter at $29 a month, Business at $79 and Premium at $159, or $22, $59 and $119 a month if you pay for a year.

There is a 14-day free trial, but Sellfy's help article on cost says checkout is turned off during the trial. So you cannot make your first sale until you pay for a plan.

Three more reasons come up often:

  • Each plan has a yearly sales cap: $10,000 on Starter, $50,000 on Business and $200,000 on Premium.
  • The upsell, the affiliate program and cart abandonment emails start on Business, at $79 a month.
  • Sellfy works with two payment processors only, Stripe and PayPal.

None of this makes Sellfy a bad tool. It makes it a better fit once your sales are steady than on the day you start.

Which Sellfy alternatives cost less to start?

Payhip, Gumroad, Systeme.io, Whop and Stakk all cost nothing a month, and you can sell on all five from the first day. They make their money from each sale instead, or not at all in the case of Systeme.io.

What it costs per month to start selling on Payhip, Gumroad, Systeme.io, Whop or Stakk. Sellfy's cheapest plan is $29 a month, and checkout is off during its trial.

From each vendor's own pricing page, checked 18 October 2026. Card processing and per-sale fees are in the table below.

The last column is our own sum on a $30 sale paid by a US card. Where a platform adds card processing on top, I used 2.9% + $0.30, the rate Sellfy's own page quotes.

What does each cheaper alternative give up?

Each one trades the monthly fee for something else. Here is the trade, one by one.

Payhip takes 5% of each sale on its free plan. That drops to 2% on Plus at $29 a month and to no fee on Pro at $99. Payhip says it pays out your sales right after each one, and it collects VAT and sales tax for you in the EU, UK, US and Canada.

Gumroad costs the most per sale. Gumroad's fees article lists 10% + $0.50, with card processing of 2.9% + $0.30 on top. Your sales also wait in a Gumroad balance until payout, with a $100 minimum. If that wait is the problem, there is a list of Gumroad alternatives that pay you directly.

Systeme.io charges no transaction fees, and its free plan never ends. But the free plan stops at 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels and 1 course, and its tools are built around funnels, email and courses.

Whop charges 2.7% + $0.30 on a domestic card, then 1.5% more on an international card, and 1% more if the currency has to be changed.

Which alternative works most like Sellfy?

Payhip is the closest match if you want a store. Like Sellfy, it sells digital downloads, courses, memberships and physical products from one store, and it has a plan with no transaction fee. The difference is how the price is built. Sellfy charges a plan fee and takes 0%. Payhip's free plan has every feature and takes 5% instead.

That last point matters if you compared Sellfy's plans. Payhip says all of its plans have the same features, so nothing is held back for a bigger plan. On Sellfy, the upsell and cart emails wait for Business at $79 a month. Payhip has its own trade-offs too, and we went through them in our list of Payhip alternatives.

Shopify is the closest match if you also sell physical goods. Basic is $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly, and Shopify's free Digital Products app adds files to a store built for shipping things. It is more store than most people selling only downloads need.

Which alternatives have an offer inside the checkout?

Gumroad does, and so does Stakk, both with no monthly fee. Sellfy's offer works a different way, and you need Business at $79 a month to use it.

On Sellfy, the upsell is a pop-up. It shows when a buyer adds a product to their cart on your store page or a product page, before they reach checkout. We went through whether Sellfy has a real order bump in a separate post.

Gumroad's upsell shows at checkout, after the buyer enters their payment details and presses Pay. It can offer an upgraded version, swap the product for another, or add an extra one. It costs nothing extra beyond Gumroad's normal fee.

On Stakk, the order bump sits on the checkout page and is paid in the same charge as the product. After payment, the buyer can take an upsell with one tap, using the card they just used.

Is there a Sellfy alternative with a flat fee and no cut?

Yes, if you like Sellfy's way of pricing: a set monthly fee and nothing taken from each sale. Payhip Pro is $99 a month with no transaction fee from Payhip. Shopify Basic is $39 a month with no extra fee on Shopify Payments, only the card rate of 2.9% + 30c.

SendOwl is another flat-fee option. Its Launch plan is $39 a month, or $32.50 a month billed yearly. Watch the cap, though: Launch stops at $10,000 in sales a year, the same as Sellfy Starter. If a cap is what you want to get away from, our post on SendOwl alternatives covers the options with none.

A flat fee is cheaper once you sell a lot each month. A per-sale fee is cheaper while you sell a little. That is the whole trade, and it is the reason to look at your last few months of sales before you pick.

When is Stakk the wrong Sellfy alternative?

If you want Sellfy's tools without its plan fee, Stakk is the wrong choice for a lot of them. Stakk does not host your files: you paste a link to where the file lives, and we email that link to the buyer once they pay. It has no email marketing, no subscriptions, no courses, no print on demand and no link-in-bio page builder. It sells in US dollars only and caps prices at $999. And if the lowest cost per sale is the goal, use Systeme.io or Whop instead. Whop's pricing page lists 2.7% + $0.30 with no monthly costs, and Systeme.io charges no transaction fees even on its free plan. Both take less per sale than our 10% + $0.50.

What Stakk does differently is the checkout. The order bump rides the same charge as the product, so it carries one fee rather than two. The upsell after payment is one tap against the card the buyer just used. It is a second charge, so our fee applies to it again. Both are on every account with nothing held back for a $79 plan, and the layout came out of funnels that ran for agency clients before Stakk existed.

Want to sell from day one with no plan to buy?

Stakk is free to start and has no monthly fee. We take 10% + $0.50 a sale with card processing included, and the money goes into your own Stripe account, not a balance we hold. You can add an order bump and an upsell to your first product, and a month with no sales costs you nothing.
