Stakk vs Bandcamp

A music community that brings fans, or a store at your own link.

The short answer

Bandcamp is a music store and community where fans follow artists and buy music and merch. Stakk is your own store at one link, for any digital product, sold to the people who already follow you.

Bandcamp has no monthly fee. It takes 15% of digital sales, or 10% once your sales pass $5,000, and payment processing is added on top. Stakk has no monthly or setup fee and charges from 10% + $0.50 per sale, card processing included.

When is Bandcamp the better pick?

Pick Bandcamp if any of these is you.

  • You want fans to find your music. Bandcamp tells your followers when you release something, and fans browse tags, collections and Bandcamp Daily. If you have no audience yet, that is worth a lot, and no fee table shows it.
  • You sell music and merch. Bandcamp streams your music, gives buyers downloads in many formats, handles merch orders and runs pre-orders. Stakk is for digital products only.
  • You want someone else to handle tax. Bandcamp collects and pays sales tax and VAT in many places, including the EU, UK, Canada, Australia and most US states. On Stakk you are the seller.
  • You want fan subscriptions. Bandcamp has artist subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly. Stakk has no subscriptions or memberships, no course player, no booking calendar and no file hosting, and every price is one-off, $1 to $999.
  • You can't open a Stripe account where you live. Bandcamp pays out to PayPal. Stakk pays out through Stripe only.

You do not have to choose. Bandcamp does not ask for exclusive rights, so you can sell on both.

Who should pick Stakk over Bandcamp?

  • You want a smaller cut on each sale. On a $10 album paid by card, Bandcamp takes $1.50 and card processing adds $0.52, so $2.02 before PayPal's payout fee, using Bandcamp's rates checked on 22 October 2026. Stakk's fee on the same sale is $1.50, card processing included.
  • You sell more than music. Sample packs, presets, lyrics, guides and more, from $1 to $999, at one link, stakk.store/yourname. Bandcamp is built for music.
  • You want an order bump and an upsell. Stakk has an order bump before paying and a one-click upsell after paying, on every account. Neither is on Bandcamp's list of artist features.
  • You want the money in your own account. On Bandcamp each sale is processed by Bandcamp first, then paid to your PayPal 24 to 48 hours later. On Stakk the buyer pays into your own Stripe account, and Stakk never holds it.
