When is Etsy the better pick?

Pick Etsy if any of these is you.

  • You need buyers to find you. Etsy is a marketplace that people already search. If you have no audience yet, that is worth a lot, and no fee table shows it.
  • You have a few products that sell steadily. On a $20 download with no shipping or sales tax, a US seller pays Etsy $2.35, counting one $0.20 listing fee, using Etsy's rates checked on 22 October 2026. Stakk takes $2.50 on the same sale.
  • You refund often. When you refund a buyer in Shop Manager, Etsy gives back its transaction and processing fees. Stakk's fee is not returned.
  • You want someone else to handle sales tax. Etsy collects and pays sales tax on orders to US buyers, and VAT on digital downloads in some countries. On Stakk you are the seller.
  • You want Etsy to host your files. You upload up to five files to each listing, 20MB each. Stakk sends a link to a file you keep somewhere else.

Stakk is also the wrong pick if you need what it does not do. It has no subscriptions, no memberships, no course player, no booking calendar and no file hosting. Every price is one-off, $1 to $999, and it pays out through Stripe only.

Who should pick Stakk over Etsy?

  • You have a big catalog. Etsy charges $0.20 for every listing, whether it sells or not, and again every four months if it renews. Forty listings cost $8.00 every four months before anything sells. Stakk has no monthly or setup fee, and its fee comes out of each sale.
  • You sell to people who already follow you. On Etsy your listing sits among everyone else's. On Stakk your store is one link, stakk.store/yourname, made for your bio and built for phones.
  • You want the money in your own account. On Etsy each sale goes to your Etsy payment account first. Etsy then pays it to your bank on a schedule, and it can hold some in reserve. On Stakk the buyer pays into your own Stripe account, Stakk never holds it, and Stripe pays you on its own schedule.
  • You want a bump and an upsell. Stakk has an order bump before paying and a one-click upsell after paying, on every account. We found neither in Etsy's help center.
  • You want one fee with card processing in it. From 10% + $0.50 per sale, card processing included. On Etsy, payment processing is a separate fee on top of the 6.5%.
